Editing Contribution Marathons on Wikipedia

An editathon or contribution marathon is an event during which contributors create, edit and improve articles on a certain theme, subject or specific type of content in order to contribute to projects such as Wikipedia or OpenStreetMap. New contributors usually receive basic training to collaborate on such projects.

Wikipedia editathons take place in accredited educational institutions; scientific research institutions and cultural institutions, such as museums or archives.
